KYLIE ADAMS-COLLIER-

Half of “Blue Velvet” is Kylie Adams-Collier, a professional recording artist,
multi-award-winning songwriter, film & TV actor, photographer
and former national radio presenter on “Good Morning Country.”
With a rich vibrato, her voice is honest and authentic, with vocals described as unique and
likened to Iris Dement and Vera Lynn.

Working with Bruce Begley’s “Snow Leopards,” on Waterfront records,
established Kylie’s musical credentials in the in the early nineties.
Her longstanding professional career has taken her around Australia,
touring many regional festivals to showcase her recordings.

Kylie has recorded six albums throughout her career including two
“Snow Leopards” albums on Waterfront Records and four solo albums:
"Bellingen Says Goodnight" produced by Brendan Gallagher,
”Sweet Dreams 'til Morning" produced by Gary Brown,
“Little Stone" produced by Lindsay Waddington on Kross Kut Records,
“Light as a Feather" produced by Michael Carpenter.

She's had eight top 10 hits including two singles that made it to number 2
nationally including “Montevideo Maru 1942” & “Waiting for Heaven to Rain.”
Her recording of Hank Williams “I Can't Help it if I'm Still in Love with you”
reached number 5 on the International Mainstream Charts.
Kylie's endearing song about being brave "Fearless Like a Magpie,"
reached number 5 on the International Mainstream Charts.
Kylie's original music is regularly featured on Australian radio playlists as well as
international playlists including England, New Zealand, America, France, Poland, Germany,
Netherlands and many more.

 

Career highlights include singing live at the wireless on JJJfm with the Snow Leopards,
Recording a jingle for ABC radio 's 'This Sporting Life' with Roy & HG,
Performing at the Capitol Theatre during the Tamworth Country Music Festival,
Performing at the 75th and 80th Montevideo Maru Anniversary Service at the Australian War
Memorial, Canberra and Rabaul, Papua New Guinea and meeting the P.N.G Prime Minister
Sir Michael Somare, Irish President Dr Michael Higgins and Australian Prime Minister
Anthony Albanese.

 

Kylie is currently recording her forthcoming original single “It’s Like You Never Left” with
Michael Carpenter and booking her new covers duo, “Blue Velvet,” accompanied by Bryen
Willems on guitar and vocals.

Bryen Willems Biography:
The other half of “Blue Velvet” is Bryen Willems!
Bryen “the Swamp Duck”, fronts a five-piece band called Bryen and the Bayou Boogie Boys
– playing a mix of originals and drawing from a virtual treasure trove of the best country,
blues, swamp and southern rock from the last 50 years.
Bryen has two albums out, TOO COLD AT HOME,
and NO BAND HERE TILL FRIDAY.

 

A regular fixture on the live music scene, Bryen hosts the monthly Condell Park Country,
regularly gigs with Glenn Skarrett and his very popular honky tonk band,
Bryen and the Bayou Boogie Boys!

 

Bryen Willems hails from Louisiana in the USA. The Mississippi Delta in Louisiana is where
almost 15 million waterfowl head for the winter – almost 30% of the entire waterfowl
population of Alaska, Canada and the Lower 48 states of the USA.

Willems has swamp rock in his repertoire of country, blues and southern rock. Swamp Rock
evolved from Roots Rock which, in turn, traces its origins to folk, blues and country.
In the late 60s, Roots Rock gave birth to Country Rock and Southern Rock to counter the
growing influence of punk rock, new wave and heavy metal. Country icons like Bob Dylan
led movements to revive interest in roots music to be followed by Gram Parsons and The

Byrds, the Flying Burrito Brothers, the Everly Brothers, Rick Nelson, Emmylou Harris and
Linda Ronstadt.

The migration pipeline saw Willems move from his native Louisiana to Australia many years
back bringing with him his bayou heritage and topping it off with a distinct Australian sound.
Based in Sydney, he worked as an announcer in country radio stations and released his
debut album in 2007.

Through the years, Willems has worked with Liza and Rae of The Harmonators, two-time
Western Australian vocalist of the year awardee Ronnie Rae Rivers, and 2011 Mo awardee

for Best Country Performer Nicki Gillis. Willems has also performed with fellow Louisiana-
born Gayla Lajeune and alt country artist Floramay Holliday.

Willems is a familiar face at country music festivals. He has appeared at every Tamworth
Country Music Festival since 2002 and hosts the Tamworth Honky-Tonk Nights at the Family
Hotel during the festival and the iconic “Louisiana Hayrides Again show!”

He's performed at the Gympie Muster, Red Hill Country Music Festival, Riverland Country
Music Festival, Central Coast Country Music Festival, and Bluewater Country Music Festival.
Recently teaming up with Kylie Adams-Collier, Bryen looks forward to playing in their
new duo “Blue Velvet!”
